About Valencia Women's Golf Club
A group of ladies started golfing together in 1972 at Golden Oaks Golf Course that was located where the Green Thumb nursery is located on San Fernando Road.
Passionate to form an organized golf group that would give them handicaps and allow them to compete with other clubs. On May of 1973 their first organizational meeting took place following an 18-hole tournament at Vista Valencia.
Don Chase was the General Manager of Vista and Big Valencia. He presided over that first luncheon meeting. Mr. Chase presented the new officers and introduced our honored guest, Jane Fortmiller, the founder of Western American Golf Association (known as WAGA). Mrs. Fortmiller welcomed Vista Women’s Golf Club (VWGC) into WAGA. The winner of the first tournament that day shot a 73 low gross at Vista Valencia.
Our club has been in existence for over 50 years. Our history and growth are just the highlights of what an important club we have, and proudly continue our tradition.
